So here’s my ‘Food Porn’ update for January 2013!

I completely succumbed to buying a few new gadgets over the past thirty days. Stovetop smoke, japanese mandolin, new oven proof frying pans – the list goes on!

Almost everything I’ve been eating is fairly well adherent to the leangains system I’ve been following. Not entirely ‘Paleo’ any more due to the sheer amount of carbs I’m trying to eat on a training day…and this is whilst still cutting! But for the most part they’re all fairly clean and unoffensive!

– My new Camerons Stovetop Smoker in action. Smoked chicken thighs and beef burgers (burgers were seared on skillet following 20 mins smoking).

– The chicken thighs finished after 35 mins smoking. It’s hot smoke with Hickory chips at about 175 deg C.

– And some of the smoked and seared burgers. Tasty rest day dinners!

– My attempt at hickory smoked ribs. Same dry rub I use for my 18 hour pulled pork.

– To be honest these could have been far better but it was a valiant first attempt!

– This was a little bit of a splurge on a recent trip down to London. Beef ribs with mac n’cheese.

– Ribye (marinated in soy/vinegar/garlic/spring onion) with griddled green beans and roasted parsnips with a maple glaze.

– Technically this was supposed to be a rest day lunch (so very limited carbs) but I had to try out the sweet potato hash cakes alongside the chicken kebabs.

– One of my new obsessions thanks to Tim Ferriss and his new book ‘The 4 Hour Chef’. Steamed chicken breasts with a tamari/garlic/ginger dressing. Post workout on this occasion so a big heap of green veg and rice noodles to go with it.

– Always amazed by physically how much food I get to eat on an IF protocol. Steak and green beans with a peppercorn sauce.

– This was actually a much older pic but I cannot stress enough how unbelievably awesome these are! Thanks to my brilliant girlfriend for carting them back from Canada for me. If anyone can get these in the UK I will pay you an equivalent rate to cocaine…they’re that good!

– Training day dinner: Chicken thighs with chipotle rub, rice and veg covered with chicken gravy. It just kind of works!

– Standard rest day dinner. Burgers, veg and assorted toppings!

– More rest day food…lunch this time.

– Standard training day lunch – Chicken (smoked thighs on this occasion), rice and mixed veg.

– This stuff is so tasty. Flying goose siracha with extra garlic!

– Funny story. What happens when you buy a whole leg of lamb and realise you can’t fit it in your slow cooker? Simple you create a new version of BJJ: Butchery Jiu-Jitsu. Dug out the meat around the bone to the knuckle then snapped the bone with a classic arm bar…I’m not even joking/. No pictures of the finished dish tough I’m afraid.
