Bit of a slow month and I’m sorry to say I messed about a lot here! I finished my run of Leangains with Andy Morgan from www.rippedbody.jp and for some bizarre reason thought I’d go back to doing my own thing…despite adding weight to all of my lifts and generally feeling better. Not smart.

I did a short run of a ‘Protein Sparing Modified Fast’ as prescribed by Lyle McDonald and then moved back to a Ketogenic approach. Due to my increased training requirements it didn’t exactly pan out how I’d hoped and although I weighed less by the time Cage Warriors rolled around in April, my gym performance was suffering badly.

Let this food porn post be a lesson!

A rest day staple: Chicken breast in chipotle paste & garlic with onions, peppers and green beans.

Post Cage Warriors 52 Sunday morning munchies with my Girlfriend at the very awesome Breakfast Club Cafe in Angel. American pancakes with assorted animal parts. Note the ‘Green is Good’ mint and spinach smoothie I have perched on the edge of the table. So good!

No pictures of the finished dish – but Easter rolled around and my Girlfriends Mother visited from Canada so we cooked pulled pork, a giant gammon and a hell of a lot of trimmings. Did screw up the mash potato however as I forgot to drain the water they’d been sitting in prior to cooking…guess what happens with that much starch!

This meal was the absolute standard every single day on my PSMF protocol – Steamed chicken and green beans with a Tamari, ginger, garlic & spring onion dressing. Whilst tasty, you can only take so much. My Cameron’s stove top smoker came in very handy for this indeed!

Another slightly depressing PSMF meal: 4-6 egg whites with 30g low fat cheese and some spring onion. Bland to the extreme.

At one point I got really quite sick. I usually take about one day a year off from work with illness – this was that day. Came home, said to hell with it and made a big batch of chicken, veg and gravy which I then crammed in a hollowed out chunk of tiger bread. Made me feel a bit better although that may have been to do with the 1000cals of Hersheys cookie & cream kisses I consumed alongside it.

Ketogenic diet food is always awesome – here’s an example of why…
