After six weeks away from the mic, the arrival of Cage Warriors 73 at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle could not come soon enough!
Owing to a few hiccups with some of the Middle East shows that were scheduled, this card had been made another double bill. Just like the marathon of last June ( Cage Warriors 69: Super Saturday ), Brad and I would be taking to the mics for over 6 hours and more than sixteen pro fights!
Headlining the bill was the much anticipated finale to the Steven Ray x Curt Warburto trilogy. The first main card was topped by a wicked match-up for the vacant featherweight belt between Nad Narimani and Alex Enlund ( Listen to Alex on episode 6 of the Top Control Podcast ).
Slightly ashamed to say Brad & I were colour coordinated for this outing. Our star MC Joe Martinez snapped this shot mid-event:
Great fights all around. Alex and Nad put on a fatastic five round scrap with Alex grabbing a close decision win. Stevie Ray was able to put a decisive finish on the rivalry with Warburton scoring a second round submission after a great straight left counter.
Other standpouts for the night included Bret Caswell from Gym 01 overcoming the unbeaten Marcin Lasota by decision.
Check out this great bit of Judo from Caswell:

Lew Long also deserves some praise for his ruthless performance against top welterweight Matt Inmann. Lew is looking absolutely monstrous at 170lbs, a weight class that suits him far better than 155lbs.
